Laboratory
CB Mills proudly offers our customers and potential customers access to our modern and fully equipped laboratory. Our equipment ranges from small scale to full scale production models. CB Mills’ lab team will work with you to demonstrate our products capabilities and/or help optimize your current process conditions.
Demonstration Equipment Overview
Dispensing Line
CB Mills CR-48 and CR-22 – these two dispensing systems will demonstrate dispense accuracy capabilities and software features.
Media Mills Line
"Red Head" Small Media Grinding Mill - vertical open design with a continuous feed 2-liter chamber or 1 and 2-liter batch or flow through. Materials available are Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Vessels using Cast Alloy or Nylon discs.
Dyno-Mill Research-Lab Small Media Grinding Mill - Horizontal Sealed Mill (our newest addition) available with a 0.75 liter chamber for trials from 0.5 down to 0.1 liters. The chamber liners are Silicon Carbide for excellent cooling and wear resistance. Contact parts are availablein Chrome Alloy and Stainless Steel.
Dyno-Mill Multi-Lab Small Media Grinding Mill - Horizontal Sealed Mill available with a 1.4, 0.6, or 0.3 liter chamber for trials from 20 down to 0.5 liters. Just like the Research-Lab the chamber liners are Silicon Carbide for excellent cooling and wear resistance. Contact parts are available in Stainless Steel, Hardened Steel, Nylon, and Polyurethane. The Multi-Lab can be configured as a standard KD style discs or the high efficiency ECM design.
Dyno-Mill ECM Pilot High-Efficiency Small Media Grinding Mill - Horizontal, Sealed 1.5 liter Mill with new style accelerators. This state-of-the-art mill is very effective for quick deagglomeration of products that normally require many passes through a conventional Bead Mill. Additionally this mill takes many products into the submicron particle range. The chamber liner is Silicon Carbide and the accelerators are Chrome Castings, making the mill suitable for almost any product. Trial size is 4-20 gallons.
Dyno-Mill ECM Poly High-Efficiency Small Media Grinding Mill - Horizontal, Sealed 8.2 liter Mill with the same accelerators as the ECM Pilot. Just like the ECM Pilot this mill is very effective for quick deagglomeration of products that normally require many passes through a conventional Bead Mill. Trial size for the ECM Poly is 30-200 gallons.
CB Mills Model 311 Rotor Stator Mixer - Variable Speed, Rotor-Stator Mixer for premixing samples from 5-15 gallons.
High Speed Disperser - Variable Speed with different blade options for premixing or stirring batches during recirculation through the small media mills.
Washing Line
CB Mills Model TW-100 Tote Washer - this washer has the ability to clean a tote from 150 gallons up to 550 gallons in size. The TW-100 can accommodate a standard 22’’ manway or six inch tote openings.
CB Mills Model TW-300 Tank Washer - this tank washer has the ability to clean a tank or a tote up to 80" in diameter. The lid adjusts for tank heights from 34" to 73" from the floor.
CB Mills Model DW-100 Drum Washer - this drum washer has the ability to clean standard open-top drums or closed-head drums.
Solvent Recovery Stills Line
CB Mills Model Micro-30 Solvent Recovery Unit – for small volume waste generators this unit demonstrates its full capabilities from the Micro series.
CB Mills Model RHS-30 Solvent Recovery Unit - Vertical 30-gallon capacity still with continuous oil circulation and internal scraping for the best heat transfer. Batch size for testing is 55 to 110 gallons.
CB Mills Hydro-Tek Model 110 Solvent Recovery Unit - Horizontal 55-gallon capacity still with continuous oil circulation and an internal auger. Batch size for testing is 55 gallons. This unit eliminates your hazardous waste, by removing 100% of the solvent from your waste. The waste stream is first run through an RHS-30 to remove up to 60%of the solvent. Then the sludge from the first run is put into the Hydro-Tek110 to remove the remaining solvent; and leaving a solid residue.
Evaluation Equipment Overview
Hegman and NIPIRI grind gauges - Draw-Down Gauges to check the fineness of grind produced by small media milling.
HPAS Particle Size Analysis - measures particle size using a microscope by converting pixels to microns. Suitable solvent and resin from product are required to dilute samples for slides.
Datacolor Model Color Data QC - color matching system that is used mostly to determine color strength development. Often particle size alone is not enough to determine if wet milling has met the control sample requirements. We use this system to check color strength against a control provided by the customer to know when the trial is finished.
Note: Control sample must accompany all products prior to testing.
